Frequently asked questions
Is the drawstring really compostable?
Yes — and this is a critical differentiator. Many competitors sell "compostable drawstring bags" where the bag body is compostable but the drawstring is conventional polypropylene or polyester. Our drawstring is extruded from the same PLA+PBAT compound as the bag body, then drawn into a thin filament. The entire product — bag, drawstring, and any printing — is certified compostable as one complete unit under ASTM D6400 and OK Compost HOME.
How much weight can the drawstring hold when carrying?
The drawstring is tested to support 3 kg of lifting force — well above the bag's recommended 2 kg fill capacity. The cinch mechanism distributes weight evenly around the bag opening, preventing single-point stress that could cause tearing.
Are these suitable for composting programs that require bags to be emptied before composting?
Yes. While the entire bag including drawstring is compostable, some municipal programs prefer bags to be emptied. The drawstring makes this easy: untie, empty contents into the organics stream, then dispose of the bag in compost or (if required by local rules) general waste. Either way, the bag will eventually biodegrade without leaving microplastics.
