PPWR covers packaging placed on the EU market, including imports. The applicable route depends on the format, use, construction, operator role and current implementation measures.
1. Scope is format-specific
Record the exact packaging, end use, food-contact status, disposal route and countries. “Compostable” is not a universal exemption from PPWR requirements.
2. Claims need evidence
A standard or certificate should identify the relevant product or covered construction. Review inks, adhesives, final artwork and disposal wording within that scope.
3. Food-contact PFAS thresholds
