PLA (polylactic acid) is derived from fermented plant starch (typically corn) and provides stiffness and clarity. PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate) is a fossil-derived but biodegradable polyester that provides flexibility and tear resistance — it is the "softener" in most compostable film blends. Starch-based formulations use thermoplastic starch as the primary polymer, offering the highest bio-based content but lower mechanical strength. Most Esinle films use a PLA+PBAT blend optimised for your application.

Our standard PLA/PBAT formulations meet EU Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and FDA 21 CFR for indirect and dry food contact. For wet, fatty, or acidic food-contact applications, additional migration testing specific to your food simulant may be required. Always inform our technical team of your intended food-contact use at inquiry stage.

Industrial composting (EN 13432 / ASTM D6400) requires controlled conditions — 58°C minimum, managed humidity, mechanical aeration — only achieved in a municipal or commercial composting facility. Home compostable (OK Compost HOME / NFT 51-800) requires degradation at ambient temperature (20–30°C) in a typical backyard compost pile, within 12 months. Our standard range is industrially compostable; select thin-gauge products are home-compostable.

Store in cool (15–30°C), dry conditions away from direct sunlight. Shelf life is typically 12 months from production date when stored correctly. Compostable materials will degrade prematurely if exposed to sustained heat, humidity, or UV — this is an inherent material property, not a defect. We recommend FIFO inventory rotation.

Standard PLA/PBAT films are stable from approximately -20°C to 55°C in use. They are not suitable for hot-fill applications above 60°C or for microwave/oven use. For cold-chain or freezer applications, we can adjust the PBAT ratio to improve low-temperature flexibility.

We do not currently offer: liquid-tight packaging, high-barrier retort pouches, shrink-wrap films, vacuum-seal films, or packaging requiring >12-month ambient shelf life. Our products must NOT be mixed into conventional plastic recycling — they can contaminate the recycling stream. Compostable packaging degrades in a compost environment; if it ends up in landfill, it will not degrade meaningfully.

Yes. From 12 August 2026, PPWR (EU Regulation 2025/40) mandates that all compostable packaging placed on the EU market must hold EN 13432 certification from a notified body, carry standardised labelling, and comply with PFAS restrictions. See our PPWR Navigator for a full compliance check.

Compostable packaging is generally exempt from single-use plastics bans where specifically recognised (e.g. EU SUPD Directive, various US state laws), usually requiring certification to EN 13432 or equivalent. Laws vary by market — we can provide a regulatory summary on request.

Yes. Every shipment includes a PFAS-free declaration for the relevant SKUs — part of the standard compliance pack.

MOQ depends on order type:
• Stock items: from 60 cartons (roughly 0.5–1.5 tons depending on format)
• Custom bags: typically 500 kg minimum
• Custom films: typically 1 ton minimum
• Higher minimums may apply for gravure-printed or bespoke formats

Yes — custom sizing, custom thickness, up to 8-colour flexographic or gravure printing, with a digital proof before production. Gravure cylinders are a one-time cost, reused for repeat orders.

Standard lead time is 15–25 working days from artwork approval. Rush orders: 10–12 working days for an expediting fee. Stock samples ship within 48 hours; custom samples in 5–7 working days.

30% deposit / 70% balance before shipment (T/T) is standard. Net-30 available for established relationships. L/C at sight accepted above USD 50,000.

Yes — mixed containers are standard practice. MOQ applies per SKU, not per container.

Door-to-door export logistics — FCL and LCL sea freight, air freight for urgent orders. Standard Incoterm: FOB Guangzhou; CIF/DDP available. Every shipment includes commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, and the compliance pack.

Export-grade pallets with moisture-resistant wrapping; cartons labelled with SKU, quantity, production date, and certification marks. Desiccant packs manage humidity during sea transit.

Every batch is sampled and tested before shipment (tensile strength, thickness, seal integrity per AQL 2.5), with records retained for 3 years. Document with photos and batch numbers within 14 days of receipt; confirmed defects are replaced or credited.
