ASTM D6400 covers plastics designed for aerobic composting in municipal or industrial facilities. A BPI listing can support a compostable claim when the listed product and scope match the item being sold; local acceptance and legal use still require separate checks.

Functionally equivalent to DIN CERTCO's industrial compostability certification — confirms disintegration, biodegradation, chemical safety, and compost quality per EN 13432. Some EU buyers specifically request the TÜV Austria mark over DIN CERTCO; both are equally valid.

OK Compost HOME (NFT 51-800 / EN 17427) is the most demanding compostability certification — degradation at ambient temperature (20–30 °C) in a backyard compost pile: ≥ 90 % disintegration and biodegradation within 12 months, plus EN 13432 ecotoxicity and heavy-metal limits. Only select thin-gauge films and bags achieve this standard.

AS 5810 certifies home compostability for the Australian and New Zealand markets: biodegradation at ambient temperature plus a worm-toxicity (vermiculture) test not found in EN 13432 or ASTM D6400. Certified products may carry the ABA home compostable logo.

Factory-level certification covering process control, raw-material traceability, document control, corrective action, and continuous improvement. Every production batch is traceable to its resin lot; QA data is retained per batch; non-conformance is systematically documented and resolved.

BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) audits factories against international labour standards: no forced or child labour, safe working conditions, fair wages, freedom of association, environmental management, and ethical business practices. Increasingly a minimum requirement for EU and North American importers conducting supplier due diligence.
