Same-material-family drawstring channel
The reference construction specifies a flat drawstring from the same PLA + PBAT + plant-starch material family as the body. Verify the exact formulation and finished-bag evidence before marketing the complete item as compostable.
Rim grip and clean closure
The folded channel gathers around common tall-kitchen bin rims and provides accessible ends for closing. Check retention, overhang and removal force on the buyer’s actual rectangular or rounded bin.
Star-seal bottom construction
An eight-point radial seal distributes the base across the bin. Approve seal geometry, weld consistency and filled-bag performance on a production-representative sample rather than relying on a universal load claim.
Representative wet-load validation
Test the selected gauge with the intended scraps, moisture, fill level and service interval. The result applies to the agreed construction and method; it is not an absolute leakproof guarantee.
Easy-tear perforated rolls

These four names are procurement checkpoints, not blanket proof for every custom bag. Match the holder, product identity, body and drawstring formulation, gauge, pigments, printing, validity and permitted mark to the exact finished SKU.
EN 13432
European packaging requirements for recovery through controlled composting and biodegradation. Confirm that current evidence covers the complete finished bag, including body film, drawstring, pigments, printing, gauge and permitted claim.
ASTM D6400
US specification used for plastics designed for aerobic composting in municipal or industrial facilities. Match the report sample, formulation, thickness and finished construction to the SKU being quoted.
BPI Certification
BPI is a third-party certification program based on applicable ASTM criteria. Check the current product listing, certificate holder, licensed item and mark-use permission; a resin listing alone does not prove the finished bag.
OK compost HOME
A separate home-compost conformity route with conditions different from industrial composting. Request the current certificate and verify that the exact body, drawstring, colour, printing and thickness fall within its scope.

Limitations & Storage
Nominal 13-gallon capacity and rendered product images do not prove universal bin fit, carrying weight, drawstring strength, wet-holding time, leakproofness or puncture resistance. Avoid sharp metal, glass, exposed bones, hot waste, hazardous or clinical waste and free liquids unless a separately approved construction and test program covers the application. Industrial and home composting are different routes, and a certificate does not guarantee acceptance by every collector or facility. Drain excess liquid, validate the actual service interval and store sealed cartons cool and dry away from heat, sunlight and excess humidity.

What size bin fits these 13 gallon compostable drawstring bags?
The standard 24 × 27 in format is a starting point for many 13-gallon / 49.2 L tall kitchen bins, with a 22 × 30 in tall variant also available. Send rim width, depth, height and desired overhang because rectangular and rounded bins with the same nominal capacity can fit differently.
Is the drawstring compostable with the bag?
The reference construction specifies the body and flat drawstring from the same compostable material family. That design intent is not proof by itself: request current finished-SKU evidence that explicitly covers the drawstring, body, seams, colour, print and selected thickness.
Is 22 μm suitable for wet kitchen scraps?
Twenty-two microns is the standard starting gauge, not a universal performance guarantee. Test a production-representative bag with the actual scraps, moisture, fill level, service time and carrying method; drain excess liquid and support heavy bags from below.
Are these bags leakproof or puncture-proof?
No flexible compostable liner should be marketed as absolutely leakproof or puncture-proof without a defined test method and passing result. Avoid sharp items, hot waste and free liquids, and agree representative wet-load and seal checks for the chosen construction.
What do the four certification references mean?
EN 13432, ASTM D6400, BPI and OK compost HOME are document-verification routes with different scopes and conditions. Ask for the current certificate, report or listing and match holder, product identity, formulation, thickness, colour, printing, validity and permitted mark to the finished SKU.
Can the eucalyptus colour, seed-pod pattern and kraft packaging be customized?
Yes. Body colour, drawstring colour, repeating print, retail pack and carton marks can be adapted after technical and artwork review. Reconfirm evidence scope before printing any compostability statement or certification mark.
