PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Why specify ES-GB-08
ES-GB-08 is our extra-thick 13-gallon kitchen bag — the answer to the most common complaint about compostable bags: "They tear too easily." At 35 μm, it is 75 % thicker than our standard 20 μm general bag and the strongest compostable kitchen bag in our product line..
The differentiator is gauge without compromise. At 35 μm with a triple-layer bottom gusset and oriented film structure, ES-GB-08 matches the tear resistance of conventional HDPE kitchen bags while maintaining full EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 certification.
Where it sits in our range. ES-GB-08 is the premium 13-gallon SKU — approximately 25–30 % more per unit than ES-GB-06 (25 μm drawstring) and the highest-cost per-bag product in the General Bags category.
When not to specify it. If your kitchen waste is consistently well-drained and light — typical residential food scraps and packaging — ES-GB-06 gives you the same 13-gallon format with a drawstring closure at a meaningfully lower per-unit cost.

USE CASES
Applications
Heavy Kitchen Use
Large families, meal-prep operations, and home cooking enthusiasts who generate heavy, wet food waste — these bags will not fail mid-carry
Light Commercial Kitchens
Cafes, small restaurants, and catering operations that need compostable bags tough enough for commercial food waste volumes
Outdoor & Garage Waste
Heavy mixed waste, yard trimmings, and garage cleanup — where lighter bags tear on sharp or heavy contents
HONEST TRANSPARENCY
Limitations & Storage
Maximum load of 15 kg at 35μm gauge. Not suitable for construction, demolition, or hazardous waste. The thicker gauge requires more time for full composting — ensure your composting facility or home compost system can accommodate thicker films. While the strongest bags in our line, they are not puncture-proof against sharp metal, glass shards, or construction debris.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How does the extra thickness affect compostability?
The 35μm gauge does not prevent composting — it simply takes longer for full biodegradation. In industrial composting (58°C+), our 35μm bags fully degrade within 120–180 days (still within the EN 13432 180-day requirement). In home compost (20–30°C), degradation takes 12–18 months. The thicker film requires more surface area exposure, so we recommend cutting or shredding the bag before adding to home compost for faster breakdown.
Are these bags cost-competitive with conventional heavy-duty plastic bags?
At 35μm, our bags cost approximately 30–35% more than equivalent HDPE heavy-duty kitchen bags. However, they are price-competitive with premium conventional brands (Glad ForceFlex, Hefty Ultra Strong) while adding full compostability. For organizations subject to plastic bag regulations, these bags often have a lower total cost of compliance than conventional bags plus regulatory fees.
Can these be used for construction or renovation debris?
Not recommended. While these are our strongest kitchen bag, construction debris (nails, screws, drywall, broken tile) presents puncture hazards beyond any flexible bag's capability. For construction and renovation waste, we recommend rigid containers or heavy-gauge contractor bags. Our bags are engineered and tested for household and light commercial waste, not construction or demolition applications.
