The reference construction specifies a flat drawstring from the same PLA + PBAT + plant-starch material family as the bag body. Verify the exact formulation and finished-bag evidence before describing the complete item as compostable.
Compact four-gallon fit and secure cuff
The 18 × 21 in reference is designed for many small bathroom, nursery and office bins. Test rim retention, cuff depth and drawstring access on the buyer’s actual round or rectangular container.
18 μm standard starting film
Eighteen microns is a material-efficient starting point for light-duty contents, not a universal load rating. Select from the 16–30 μm range after testing the intended waste, moisture, service time and handling routine.
Star-seal bottom construction
The radial bottom seal spreads the bag base across a compact bin. Approve seal geometry, weld consistency and filled-bag handling on production-representative samples rather than relying on an unsupported kilogram claim.
Easy-tear perforated rolls
Controlled perforation and roll tension support quick changes in bathrooms, guestrooms and care facilities. Confirm bag count, roll diameter, core format and tear direction for the intended storage point.
OEM colour, print and retail pack-out

These four names are procurement checkpoints, not blanket proof for the illustrated custom bag. Match the certificate holder, product identity, body and drawstring formulation, maximum gauge, pigments, printing, validity and permitted mark to the exact finished SKU.
EN 13432
European requirements for packaging recoverable through controlled composting and biodegradation. Confirm that current evidence covers the complete converted bag, including the drawstring, seams, selected thickness, colour and print.
ASTM D6400
US specification used for plastics designed for aerobic composting in municipal or industrial facilities. Match the report sample, formulation, component set and gauge range to the quoted finished construction.
BPI Certification
BPI is a third-party certification program based on applicable ASTM criteria. Check the current public listing, certificate holder, exact product or private-label authorization and artwork-mark permission; a resin listing alone is insufficient.
OK compost HOME
A separate home-compost conformity route with conditions different from industrial composting. Request the current certificate and confirm the body, flat drawstring, seams, pigment, ink and selected thickness are included in scope.

Limitations & Storage
Rendered images, nominal four-gallon capacity and a listed film gauge do not prove universal fit, drawstring strength, odour containment, puncture resistance, leakproofness or a carrying-weight rating. Avoid sharp, hot, clinical, hazardous or free-liquid waste. A compostable liner does not make diapers, wipes or mixed residual contents compostable. Support the bag body during removal, validate the actual service interval and keep unused stock sealed, cool and dry away from direct sunlight, heat and excess humidity. Industrial and home composting are different routes, and local acceptance must be confirmed separately.

What size bin fits these 4 gallon compostable drawstring bags?
The sourcing reference is 18 × 21 in for a nominal four-gallon / approximately 15-liter bin. Measure the actual rim, depth, corner shape and desired cuff, then test a sample because nominal capacity does not standardize bin geometry.
How is ES-GB-07 different from the 2.6-gallon ES-GB-04?
ES-GB-07 is the larger intermediate format for bins that the 17 × 18 in ES-GB-04 cannot line comfortably. Compare both samples on the intended bin rather than choosing only by gallon label.
Is the drawstring compostable with the bag?
The reference body and flat drawstring are specified from the same compostable material family. Request current finished-SKU evidence explicitly covering both components, the seams, pigment, printing and selected thickness before using the claim.
Is 18 μm strong enough for nursery or bathroom waste?
Eighteen microns is the standard starting gauge for light-duty contents, not a universal performance guarantee. Test the intended fill, moisture, sharp edges, service time and removal method; choose a thicker construction when the agreed test requires it.
Can the drawstring be used as a carrying handle?
Use the strip to gather and close the rim, then support the bag body during removal. Do not publish a carrying-weight or handle-strength claim unless the approved construction has passed an agreed repeatable method.
Can bags containing diapers or wipes go into compost?
Do not assume so. A compostable liner does not change the disposal status of its contents. Diapers, wipes and hygiene waste are normally controlled by local residual-waste and facility rules unless an authorised program explicitly states otherwise.
What do the four certification references mean?
EN 13432, ASTM D6400, BPI and OK compost HOME are different document routes. Ask for the current certificate, report or listing and match holder, product, formulation, components, gauge, colour, print, validity and permitted mark to the finished SKU.
What information is needed for a wholesale quotation?
