Limitations & Storage
Water-resistant but not fully waterproof — prolonged pooled liquids will eventually penetrate the nonwoven structure. For high-spill settings, use ES-TC-HM-F film as an impermeable underlay. Not designed for multi-day outdoor exposure — UV radiation accelerates PLA degradation; for multi-day outdoor events, replace daily. Tear strength is lower than PBAT+PLA film — not recommended for tables subject to dragging or aggressive repositioning during service. For venues requiring wipe-down and multi-use capability, choose reusable fabric linens instead.

Frequently asked questions
Is it waterproof like a plastic tablecloth?
PLA nonwoven is water-resistant — it repels condensation, light spills, and brief liquid contact — but it is not fully waterproof. Prolonged pooled liquid (a spilled water glass left sitting) will eventually soak through. For high-spill settings — BBQ buffet tables, kids' tables, outdoor stations — we recommend pairing it with our compostable film tablecloth (ES-TC-HM-F) as an invisible impermeable underlay. The two-layer system gives you fabric aesthetics on top with waterproof protection underneath, and both layers are fully compostable.
How does it compare to renting linen tablecloths?
The math is compelling: linen rental averages $8–18 per tablecloth (including pickup, delivery, and laundry), while ES-TC-HM-N costs roughly $3–5 per table in multi-pack. For a 150-guest wedding, that's $450–750 saved — enough to upgrade the wine list. Beyond cost, there is no post-event sorting, no trip back to the rental company, and no risk of linen damage fees for wine stains or candle wax. At the end of the night, guests roll the tablecloth up with food scraps and napkins, and the entire bundle goes to compost.
Does it feel like real fabric?
Yes — at 50 gsm with a matte, non-reflective surface, it has a soft drape very similar to a lightweight linen or cotton tablecloth. It does not have the plastic crinkle or high-gloss shine of PE/PEVA disposable table covers. Wedding planners regularly tell us their clients cannot tell it is disposable until they read the label. For events where disposable convenience must not read as "cheap," this is the product.
Can I order pre-cut round tablecloths instead of rectangular?
Yes — custom die-cut round tablecloths (60" or 72" diameter, standard banquet round sizes) are available at MOQ 1 ton (approximately 3,000–5,000 boxes depending on GSM). Fitted styles with elastic edge for cocktail tables also available. Standard rectangular sizes (54"×108" and 60"×102") are stocked and ship within 3–5 business days.
What's the difference between this (ES-TC-HM-N) and the film version (ES-TC-HM-F)?
ES-TC-HM-F is a transparent/coloured waterproof film — best for table protection where the beauty of the table surface should show through, or where spill-proof performance matters most. ES-TC-HM-N is an opaque, fabric-textured nonwoven — best for covering an imperfect table surface completely while creating a high-end "dressed" look. In practice: choose film for family dinners, BBQs, and surface protection. Choose nonwoven for weddings, galas, and events where aesthetics drive the decision.
